What is compression therapy?

Compression therapy is the use of controlled pressure to increase venous blood flow in a limb while decreasing the volume.

By applying measured pressure in the form of socks, stockings, tights, or bandages, compression therapy can reduce inflammation and sustain the restorative process.

Compression therapy can be used to treat a variety of conditions including:

  • Lymphoedema
  • Phlebitis
  • Thrombosis
  • Aftercare following surgery
  • Varicose veins
At Lakeside, we have a team of certified compression stocking fitters that can provide the right product and treatment for your needs.

Compression therapy can help.

The Ankle Brachial Pressure Index (ABPI) is a non-invasive test that provides a snapshot of what is happening with your circulation. It can indicate any arterial circulation issues and assist your doctor or nurse in determining the proper compression treatment for you.

We offer a wide variety of compression garments including:

  • Over the counter garments and travel socks
  • Prescription strength below the knee, thigh high, pantyhose, arm sleeves, and gloves
  • Custom compression stockings and arm sleeves
  • Lymphedema day and night compression garments
  • Velcro closure compression garments
  • compression wraps for edema (swelling) management

At Lakeside we carry Sigvarous, Venosan, Mediven, and Jobst products.
